FAQs

Why should we have our wedding videotaped?
This is one of the most important events of your life. With a video, you can relive the events of the day and share them with friends and relatives who were not there, including future descendants. Video captures all the sights, sounds, and excitement in a way still photos cannot.

Our friend has a video camera. Why not save money by having him tape the ceremony for us?
Some couples that want a video think about asking a friend or relative to record the wedding and reception. This is always risky. Few amateurs have the experience and equipment to do the job right. They don't have the time or know-how to edit the video in order to make it more interesting and enjoyable to watch. As a result, you end up with shaky and out of focus camera work, improperly framed shots, and poor sound. And there is also a good chance they will miss some important, once-in-a-lifetime shots. You do not want that to happen!

How is sound at the wedding ceremony and reception recorded?
We use a combination of broadcast quality wireless and camera-mounted directional microphones to record all the events of the day.

Do we have a choice of music?
Yes. In fact, we encourage you to include your favorite songs. Your wedding video may include special sections that require music. The opening scene may include photos of the bride and groom, titles, and exterior shots of the wedding location. Between the ceremony and reception, a transitional sequence may be appropriate. And at the end of the video, a final sequence is sometimes used to recap the day's glorious events. Each of these sequences requires just the right musical choice. That is why your involvement in selecting the music is so important. Combining our video with one or more of your special songs will result in a finished movie that is beautiful, timeless, and uniquely yours.

Does our DVD include a chapter selection menu?
Yes. Each DVD has a custom scene selection menu. Chapter markers are typically placed for the ceremony, first dance, toasts, cake cutting, and so on.

How long before we receive our completed DVDs?

On average, allow three to five weeks after the date of your wedding. This may vary depending on the wedding package you choose and the time of year. We spend a great deal of time editing your video to make it perfect. We do not rush this process because when we are done, we want you to absolutely love your video!

How can we guarantee our wedding video will be perfect?

You cannot ... just like you cannot guarantee your wedding will be perfect. Videotaping a wedding is not like rehearsing and shooting a movie. There are no second takes, and there are always unexpected moments. Video captures the wedding live, as it happens. A professional videographer knows what to expect and can anticipate the events as they unfold. Our experience helps us capture the best scenes from the best angles, adapt to the available lighting and sound, and edit everything into a truly memorable video.

How will Heartland know what we want in our finished video?
Before your wedding day we will schedule a time to sit down with you and carefully review the timeline and important elements of your wedding day. You let us know what people, special events, and other content is important to you. We will also share other ideas with you that we think might enhance your wedding video.

How do we figure out what coverage we need and the cost?
We have three different packages for you to choose from, or we will work with you to customize one that suits your specific needs and budget. All our prices are listed on our
Packages page. You can also download a printable list of our packages and pricing by clicking HERE.

Can we include customized titles?
Yes. If you provide the names and roles of the members of your wedding party, we can incorporate them into an ending title sequence much like the credits you see in a feature film. You may also include a prayer, poem, or a message to your friends and family as part of your custom titles.

How do we reserve our date?
Call
515-988-6063 or check our online calendar to make sure your date is available. Because of the time we devote to shooting and editing each wedding, we limit our dates to ensure the best possible quality. We will arrange a meeting where we will confirm the wedding package, review our contract with you, and reserve your date.
